i had a great weekend and have lots of pictures to prove it. i hope i can upload them tonight! in the meantime, here is a picture of my latest cool art project.. well, one of them. starbucks sells these travel mugs intended for you to put your own photos in. they come with a template. i traced around the template and created an original painting. then i made a color copy of the original and i have made several travel mugs ... pretty neat, huh? i plan to make some more designs to use as gifts.

another recent watercolor and another update. let's see if i can do this more often.

my friends peter and karen are in town with their daughter ingrid to celebrate her 2nd birthday. jesse and i were invited and it was fun to see them yesterday at her cookout party at woodland park. to catch up and watch all the little kids enjoy themselves. i have not been to woodland park since >i< was a little kid.

then a quiet evening. i am hoping today is quiet too, the weather is not really ideal for outdoor activities. maybe idea for snuggling, reading, knitting, and watching dvds. i need to do a few chores as well.

p.s. this watercolor is on etsy. someone who saw it said it was brighter than usual, actually i think i panicked at how bright it was and added a layer of white colored pencil to the sky to tone it down a bit :)

goodness, i have been meaning to update! i have been mostly busy with my day job lately. we are very busy and short people so it has kept me hoping and left me with a lack of energy for other things at the end of the day. so i've been painting a little but mostly reading mystery novels (kay scarpetta series.) this is one i finished a few weeks ago, and i just listed it and another small watercolor on etsy.

today i want to say happy birthday to kathy - i am thinking of you, kathy! see you next weekend!

i've just listed 3 paintings on etsy. it's nice that i feel like painting again, though i certainly have not been doing as much of it as i would like to. my "regular" job has been particularly stressful and physically challenging lately. i don't especially excel at physical work and i've had a lot more of it than usual. i hurt my back about a week and a half ago and am getting better but it certainly slowed me down and i've been coming home pretty tired in the evenings! but i've done some painting and some knitting, and i guess that keeps me going!

i'm really into combining rust with cool colors right now.

i have finished the 3 little paintings i was working on and started a 4th. three are on etsy. i worked on these while listening to celloist Adam Hurst and the audio book "To Say Nothing of the Dog" (by Connie Willis.) Hm. I see more of Adam Hurst in them, to tell you the truth.

it has been too long since i blogged. i have been working hard at my day job, doing things like vacuuming bugs out of rugs and loading freezer trucks. i may never again say "as cute as a bug in a rug." just so you know. and reading, and listening to audio books, and painting. these are 3 i am working on. well the red one is not quite done but the others are. i will be listing them on etsy sometime this weekend, i think. gosh i wish i could paint all day instead of vacuuming infested textiles, wouldn't that be great. one rug required the bagless vac to be emptied 4x. or maybe it was 6. you start to lose track after a few loads of orange lint mixed with critters.
