down by the river

well, today is the day we honor the nobel traditions of the irish, including the wearing of green, which i have only barely managed myself. (ok, green socks.) apparently where i work during the day wearing green means wearing chartreuse. and you know, that's a hard color to pull off, so i will stick with my black and brown with green socks discretely hidden by black boots.
i have never been to ireland and have not more than a drop or two of irish blood, but this painting which reminds me of the northwest, all green and growing, could probably also stand-in for an irish glen.
