i am at work waiting for technology to, i hope, fix itself. so i took a moment to take a picture of the drawings i am working on, which were tucked into my copy of mehndi designs from dover, and that tucked into my messenger bag. you never know when you might have a few minutes to draw.

celestial seasonings box

it all started on Saturday when I was at the pharmacy filling a prescription. I saw a celestial seasonings box with an elephant on it! and i was rather smitten - though i do prefer black tea to green tea. i think i may need to draw some more elephants - i did draw a couple recently. well then i went to look at some more tea art - i've always loved Celestial Seasonings boxes since I was a kid but there are some new ones out now - and what a feast for the eyes. Illustrating and designing tea boxes sounds like my kind of fun.

i like those trees, i should do some more.

i am in a bit of an art rut now, which is not my favorite part of being an artist, but probably somehow necessary. i am sure it is necessary. but in the meantime, i get to see how "normal" people live. get home and what do you DO? watch tv i guess. i watched 2 movies yesterday (Speak and Pan's Labyrinth. The 2nd one was really wonderful and really horrible all mixed up but you can't really do a movie set during WWII -- occupied Spain -- and have it not be horrible too if it is going to be realistic. so it was this dark creepy fantasy combined with a story of the war. visually very compelling.

and i am reading Jane Eyre, right now, and have been reading a lot lately. hopefully something interesting and new to show you soon.

had a very productive day yesterday, but maybe a little too productive. today looks busy too. 2 candidates to interview, and 2 meetings, plus of course the usual, or as much of the usual as i manage to fit around the edges.

alas the sun has gone back into hiding.

it has been a pretty quiet weekend. i've still been quite tired. we watched some dr. who and black adder, ran a few errands.. nothing too exciting. i have a massage today. hm, life does not seem very interesting right now but i guess i am not up for too interesting at the moment. i finished The Alienist and started Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr. Jesse is re-reading the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy books. Wonder what he'll think of The Salmon of Doubt which was written after Douglas Adam's death. The author, Eoin Colfer, wrote the Artemis Fowl series (I read the 1st few of those..) so at least he has some sort of pedigree.

went back to work today. still getting over his head cold. it's a doozy. not one of those colds that is a mere annoyance, but one that takes over your life, your present, your past, your future. spent most of friday night lying pathetically on the bathroom floor, occasionally turning the steam on. did not want to wake jesse up. sunday not much better. stayed home monday. i did get a lot done today but i have a lot left to do of course to even get through the project i wanted done by the end of today. tomorrow i have a 3 hour web seminar on art law. i will bring my knitting.
this is something i worked on in my lucid moments over the weekend: coelacanth: world fish. it is about 8.5 by 11 inches.

happy easter, everyone. i hope you have a lovely day. as for myself i will be spending some quality time on the couch with a severe head-cold. this cold is to normal colds as the giant stay puft marshmallow man in ghostbusters is to a timid yellow peep.
